The Sweet Like Alya Story​
In 2022, we lost our daughter, Alya, at 18 weeks gestation. Just a few weeks later, amid grief and survival, my eldest child would be celebrating his 6th Birthday.
Rather than plastic-filled party bags, I wanted to send the kids home with PYO cookies.
But do you think a single business replied? No…
So like every other parent out there putting one foot in front of the other, I learnt enough to make my first cookie set. After the party, I sent a bunch of small children home armed with cookie superheros, edible ink and paint brushes.
But the baking didn’t stop...
Unexpectedly, I found it became a form of therapy that helped me understand that grief is an expression of love.
Now the love I have for my family is shared with you, as I handcraft the cookies that help you celebrate with your loved ones.
